Tom's Flower Garden 2023

The flower garden changes every year. Sometimes I think it has a mind of it's own. I started over 50 new species indoors this spring. Some of the seed is getting old and did not germinate. It's too soon to tell how many of them will be successful .  I'm trying to get to 250 species. Some of the species are taking over large area, so I will have to take them out to make room for more varieties. I took out some of the lawn in the back yard and started a new flower bed. It is coming along nicely.  You may notice I took out the persimmon tree. It had gotten to about 15 feet high and was sending up suckers all over the whole yard and making too much shade where I din't want shade. It was a beautiful tree, but did not bear good fruit, used too much water and always looked thirsty. I still haven't been able to get rid of all the suckers that come up from the roots.

These pages will show the progress through the season.  I'll try to keep up so keep checking back.
